We've preached about the importance of a systematic strength and conditioning routine, regardless of whether or not you are a competitor or just a hobbyist. It's a fact that one of the most functional aspects of true strength is found in your grip. Think about it grapplers, throughout our daily lives we are constantly grabbing, moving, pulling and pushing with our hands. We use the same tools off the mat as we do on it. For a moment disregard your grappling style of choice, your grip strength could determine if you finish the fight with a throw, pin or submission. It's not only elite gi grapplers (Judo, Sambo, BJJ) that have incredible grips, those that have shed the kimono sometimes rely on grip even more.

Like usual we generate our fair share of questionable statements that are often challenged by our readers. I will prove my point via Jordan Burroughs, one of the best grapplers in the world, of course has a monster grip.

Check out today's video that details some simple yet extremely effective grip exercises you can do in your home gym, at your school or at Planet Fitness. Enjoy the Death grip workout, and get all Darth Vader on your opponents.
